You have 22 people, one long weekend, and a pile of skis, boards, and boot bags that will not fit in anyone's trunk. Somebody has to figure out how everyone gets to the mountain, and it is usually you.
Ski season is a logistics problem before it is a vacation. Mountain roads, early departures, and gear for every passenger make group travel harder than a standard airport run. A private charter takes most of that pressure off, as long as you book the right vehicle and sort the details early.
This guide covers how ski group transportation works across Canada, where we run mountain transfers, and how to choose the vehicle that fits your group.
How a Ski Group Charter Actually Works
A private ski charter is a vehicle booked for your group only. There are no shared stops and no other passengers' schedules to work around. Pickup is door to door, and departure times are set around your plans rather than a fixed timetable.
Pricing is per vehicle, not per person, which means the cost per head drops as your group fills the seats. On our Whistler page, prices are listed as one way and as starting prices, and they can change with demand, season, and availability. A 50% deposit is required at booking on that route.
For ski trips, ask about gear space when you book. Our vehicles have room for ski equipment and luggage, and a luggage trailer is available on some routes when your group has more gear than a standard cargo area holds.
Where We Run Ski and Mountain Transfers
Whistler
The most common ski route we run is Vancouver or YVR to Whistler hotels and condos. If you are planning this one, our Private Whistler Charter page lists vehicles from 14-passenger vans up to a 28-passenger bus, and our earlier post on booking Vancouver to Whistler group transfers goes deeper on the details. We track flights before arrival, so a delayed landing does not mean a missed pickup.
Big White and Sun Peaks
For the Interior resorts, see our guides to getting from Vancouver to Big White and travelling from Vancouver to Sun Peaks. A comfortable coach-style seat and a planned departure time make a real difference on a mountain drive.
Resort to Resort in BC
Skiing more than one mountain on the same trip? Our Mountain to Mountain Transfer connects BC resorts directly. Routes listed include Whistler to Sun Peaks, Whistler to Big White, Sun Peaks to Revelstoke, Big White to SilverStar, Whistler to Apex, and SilverStar to Manning Park. The service covers travel between any two major mountain resorts in BC, so ask if your pair is not on that list.
Banff and the Rockies
From Calgary, we run private transfers from YYC or a Calgary hotel to Banff. The smallest vehicle used for the Banff transfer is a 14-passenger Ford Transit, so very small groups should confirm the right fit with us first. Optional stops, including Lake Louise, can be added for an extra fee. See our Calgary to Banff transfer page for details.
Blue Mountain and Collingwood
In Ontario, we run private charters from Toronto to Blue Mountain Resort and Collingwood. Our post on what groups need to know before booking a Blue Mountain shuttle bus walks through vehicle sizing and booking, and our Collingwood and Blue Mountain charter page has the service overview.
Choosing the Right Vehicle for Your Group
Our fleet runs from 12 to 35 seats, and our buses have coach-style seating. Use group size and gear as your starting point.
- Small groups, up to about 14 people: a 14-passenger van is the usual starting point. Check the gear count, because a full van with ski bags gets tight quickly.
- Mid-size groups, roughly 20 to 28 people: a mini-coach or bus. On the Whistler route, our buses run from 20 to 28 passengers.
- Larger groups: our fleet goes up to 35 seats. Confirm availability early, especially for peak ski dates.
If your group is close to a size breakpoint, go up one vehicle. Extra seats are usually cheaper than extra stress, and the spare space holds the gear.
What to Sort Out Before You Book
- Headcount and gear: count people, skis, boards, and checked bags separately.
- Pickup and drop-off points: airport, hotel, or condo, and whether the group arrives together or in waves.
- Flight details: we track flights, so give us your flight numbers for airport pickups.
- Peak dates: holiday weekends and school breaks can raise pricing and limit availability.
- Add-ons: stops such as a grocery run on the way to Whistler can be added for an extra charge.
- Payment and quotes: pricing depends on route, vehicle, and date, so request a quote with your dates rather than relying on starting prices.
